After a long weekend in Yangshuo, it was time to say goodbye to its lovely streets and small markets, as well as a too hung over Rob and a sweet Thore, to head for Guilìn. We had been warned that Guilìn was going to be a step down from Yangshuo, as many said it was “just another Chinese city”.
And we did miss Yangshuo.
Overpriced, gray and gloomy were some of the thoughts that came to our minds when walking about in Guilìn, but we did go to the Reed flute caves and see the Elephant’s trunk from a far…
Luckily, we had a tour office just downstairs from our hostel so we made plans to go somewhere much cooler soon.
