Archive for ‘Food’

So Nikki would like to share what little she has experienced from life around here.

1. Went on the Star Ferry for the very first time last wednesday with a cool companion 2. Freshness Burger have hairs in their salads, give you the wrong drinks and forget to give you a $10 Student discount. Was a one time thing though, so we still go there. 3. If you’re ever in the hood. Get on the 23, go up the stairs to the second floor and sit at the very front. That’ll be a nice rollercoaster ride all the way to Admiralty/Wan Chai/Causeway bay.

1. A reminder of the time spent at Yaya tea & Coffee in Huadu, but in Shunde 2. Dessert can’t be anything other than 雙皮奶 in Shunde really… 3. Certainly nothing but a map of Guangdong.

It’s pouring down outside. I’ve survived my first thunderstorm in HK. It was pretty alright. Was skating with Charlie at the time, so didn’t really take that much notice of it, except for the occasional disco light in my face. And then I forgot I was hungry (thanks Charlie!), and woah, would you look at the time.

Anyway, I’m about to hit the sack, and tonight’s dream topic will probably be all sorts of food. Nomnomnom.

I’m in heaven

M&M heaven, to be precise. Almond, Dark chocolate, Crispy, Coconut, Orange crisp… Lovelovelovelovelove

last supper

1. Shrooms filled with cheese and other goodies, topped with crunch. Mmmmhm 2. Aji de gallina, my favorite Peruvian dish. You will be missed.

Just thought I’d eternalize my last mami-made supper. Nomnomnom.

j’aime manger du fromage et des baguettes

Surely, cleaning out your computer must count as cleaning your room, if your computer so happens to be in your room? Pretty much like cleaning your closet counts as cleaning your room because your closet is in your room. Right?

Well, I was hard at work looking through the old files on my MacBook. Poor thing is acting possessed these days, which might have something to do with the 11 000 images resting in my iPhoto library. Just might. So I thought I’d do something about it, and started flipping through the very oldest “happenings”. It was all good until I stumbled upon this.

Aah. Nantes -07. Spent four days there (school trip), staying with an utterly French and amazingly sweet host family. Above is the oven-baked french bread with camembert (or some other cheese with a fancy name) we had as an appetizer on my second evening there. What followed was my very first taste of canard, I believe. All cooked by the coolest French host father ever. All very magnifique.

Passez-moi la salade, s’il vous-plait? or something. My French is a bit rusty. As if it was ever shiny. Ha. Il est moche dans sa tête. Ha ha. Good times.

Now I’m starving and seriously considering tossing some garlic baguette into the oven whilst I finish cleaning my, ehrm, room. I’ll be damned if I do and be damned if I don’t.

Bonne nuit.

spring fever makes everybody dance now

We finally welcomed spring properly with a major BBQ yesterday in our backyard. I ate one (or two or three) too many chicken yakitori on a stick, devoured an unchaste amount of cookies and was inspired by some mad moves on the provisional dance floor.

Life can be quite good sometimes.

Now the sun is shining and I’ve recently discovered the fact that HK is the home of the second largest fashion event in the world. January 17-20 I’ll make my way in. Somehow.

Now all I need is to find my Nikki d60 charger (that otherwise costs around 800SEK to replace) and then my day will be complete! :D

taste of heaven

Mami stole my MacBook and gave it away for the night. Now it’s stowed away in the guest room with a guest, so I’ve got no access to my pictures or anything. I feel kind of… stripped. Except for the fact that I swiped my mum’s MacBook Pro in stead and am using it as payback. Mo ha ha. It’s actually quite nice.

Anyway. Besides being out on yet another extremely retarded cruise in the Benz, we’ve had our very first taste of heaven for this year. Behold, ice cream at its very best…

Gelato Italiano from Dolce Sicilia, Drottningtorget, Malmö

This time we chose to go for a small-sized cup with two flavors. What we’ve got here is a wonderful fusion of Cioccolatto Fondante and Pera. I believe that kind of translates into dark chocolate/truffle chocolate and pear. My mouth waters from just typing this. It was amazing. I was more than content. There just isn’t anything like Italian ice cream.

I know there are lots of you Ben & Jerry’s fans out there, so I’ll just be blunt about it. I don’t particularly fancy B&J’s. Not that I really DISlike it but it’s just that it’s… it’s heavy, it’s creamy and it’s the kind of ice cream I’d stuff my face with after having broken up with a boyfriend. And then I’d cry. Not so much because of the ex boyfriend, but because I’d actually feel slightly sick.

Whereas italian ice cream makes me feel like… oo look, there’s my purple cloud again!

Night night (:

I’m very sorry.

Yesterday I didn’t really do much of what I promised. I blame Charlie, the Banana King. Also known as the Chocolate teacher or most popularly as BLUH. He hopped on Skype. I hopped on Skype. So, there was a lot of catching up to do. Some friends that were going to come over to cook cancelled and went to a restaurant in stead, in which I thought “No, I’m going to be a good daughter and cook myself”. And I did, even though I’m far from a marvel in the kitchen. Made gnocchi and some weird cheesy/winey sauce. It was alright if you ask me, my mum quite enjoyed it though. Later on I got a random text message from a friend who was in the neighborhood, so I had to pick her up with dog. She brought wine, and we all know wine should be savored in peace and quiet chit chattin the night away. It was quite nice.

I know. Excuses. Just really bad excuses. Let’s just extend the deadline. Sunday at midnight, that’s when I’ll post up proof of my advances. Probably not the bank thing though as that’s closed over the weekend…

I just recently woke up and the weather is even better than yesterday (going towards the other direction in the nice-not nice scale). It’s pissing down and it’s foggy, so much that not even dog wants to go out for a walk. But it must be done.

Today I might be doing this:

. Attend a birthday dinner.
. Help a good cause
. Go to the theatre

Yaay, culture.

Gnocchi with improvised keso/brie/mushroom-sauce. Yum yum.
